I am fizzing with enthusiasm about sharing this blog with parents and other educators and as thinkers alike. I am bursting to build a space for reflection where learning is seen as an action that goes beyond the colourful shiny postered walls of the classroom, beyond the silent airless examination rooms and into the real world where the next generation will need to be willing to ask curious, reflective and creative questions in order to make meaningful contributions in the world of tomorrow - in nutshell: Why do I care?
But what about today? I know that parents and educators with a bag of tools could influence young minds to make links across time, space and culture to ask questions, that although we are different, we are also very much alike. Isn’t making rich connections, what makes us human? Is what we are saying today different to what was said yesterday or tomorrow?
As an educator, I have sat through more Inset days than I can remember, thinking this sounds great but where is the time to even think about this? Turn the thought into an action. Because the sixty essay questions on whether Macbeth is either a hero or a villain, are littered on my desk nagging at my concentration.
But today, I am very lucky to have time and space to share my experience, reflections, suggestions and a tiny bit of wisdom, What works? What works well? Lets think. Let’s see. Let’s try.
